Download only albums

I'm just curious what y'all think of artists who only release their album downloadable. Myself I collect physical records and I like to have it like that. I like to go to my shelves, pick a CD cover and hold it in my hands, read the booklet and shit like that. Now in 2011 a lot of cats release their albums as download only. do you think that it's OK to skip CD pressing? Myself I feel like these artists are disrespecting a whole lot of their fans by not pressing CDs. OK, I see that it's more convenient and cheaper for underground artists to get their music out but since everybody have internet access it's no problem to send money to cover an actual CD + shipping. I see most of the new solidarity releases are released as download only and to be honest, I forget about them. I intend to get them, and I've bought a few but I can't help it -I forget to listen to them because I don't have the physical copy. It's been like that. I don't care much about mp3s or other strictly downloaded files. I might get them and store them on my computer but when I'm about to listen to music I dig through my crates, physical crates. That's why I always ask yall when you have a new album "is this one available on CD too?"

what do yall other cats on this board think of CDs vs download only? Do you mind or not. I guess I'm too old fashioned but I like my music in an actual physical medium. But do Solidarity records' artists care about this? Are future albums pressed on CDs or will they be only available as downloads?

I myself like the whole digging in the crates.I also do my downloads for my PC just to keep it going.As far as the mp3 not crazy about that and other downloads.

I'm curious whether it's a success or not for established artists to release their new albums only as download. As an example, Too Short's 2010-album was only distributed through iTunes etc. Too Short is an example of an artist whose major fan base comes from fans buying his records and who prefer buying albums. New fans who only download will most likely sleep on short dog because he's old school while a majority of his old fans might drop buying the album because they can't get the CD, only download...

i feel the same way. I've been waiting a good minute for "Profound" and "The Focus" to be pressed.
